FLORENCE SHAPIRO, PARTNER of Shapiro & Sher Group, has a distinct sense of cosmopolitan awareness that is suited to the needs of her clientele. Starting out in luxury fashion in Paris, France, she moved into the luxury real estate market when she moved to Las Vegas and has constantly been one step ahead of the vast changes that have taken place in the city.
Being an integral part of these changes, she feels a responsibility toward her clients and the city she has called home for over 40 years.
When the Las Vegas economy suffered in 2007, she and her business partner, Ivan Sher, felt the need to show her clients that Las Vegas still had so much to offer. So, they set out to introduce friends and clients to various charities in Las Vegas.
One particular organization that she holds close to her heart is Cleveland Clinic’s Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health. Her late husband, who suffered from Parkinson’s Disease, was a patient at the facility. She explains how the experience at the Center is truly special for patients.
“They treat you beautifully. You never see other patients,” she says. “When it’s the beginning of the disease you don’t want to know what’s going to happen to you. When it’s the end of the disease, you don’t want anyone to see you. My husband always left with great hope.”
For Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health and other organizations, Shapiro & Sher spread the word by hosting intimate dinner gatherings held at client residences. The events allow their guests to mingle and learn about various charities the city has to offer.
“We make them aware that there is something to support; sometimes they don’t know what to support,” says Shapiro. Donations are always optional, but the impact that these events make on people, especially for those who hear about the organization for the first time, is remarkable.
Shapiro & Sher Group embody the gift of giving. The next event will take place in late May to benefit Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, with plans to host future dinners for Shade Tree and Opportunity Village, among others.
Shapiro & Sher Group will be hosting an intimate dinner party benefiting Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health on Thursday May 28th from 6-9pm. For more information, contact the office at 702-315-0223.
